Health & Safety Day promoted healthy behaviors and lifestyle changes and included three components: Walk with a Doc, Stony Brook’s amazing Mobile Mammography van and Family Yoga with Kelly Peckholdt of Positions Dance Studio. The New York Coalition for Transportation Safety (NYCTS ) was joined by the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, Good Samaritan Hospital trauma center volunteers and the Mobility Week team from Transit Solutions.

Dr. Puneet Gandotra of Northwell Health’s Southside Cardiology kicked off the walk with notes on keeping your heart healthy especially during the pandemic. Mark Hoffacker of New York Coalition for Transportation Safety - NYCTS then led our group of 40 or so walkers from the Conklin House, past the LIRR Babylon Station and up and around Argyle Lake, pointing out pedestrian safety tips along the way. The Stony Brook Hospital mobile mammography van offered state-of-the-art 3D mammographies right on site and several local families got their zen on out on the Conklin House green during Family Yoga. Many thanks to Conklin House Volunteer Kym Turet for helping at this event.

Stay tuned for more healthy educational programs at the Conklin House including our upcoming Blood Drive!
